This support group is created by patients for patients in the belief that together we can make a difference in the quality of our lives.

Dystonia is neurological movement disorder characterized by involuntary, sustained muscle contractions resulting in twisting, abnormal postures and/or arhythmic tremors. It can affect one or more parts of the body.

Our Dyscoveries support group was started in 2006 by Denise Gibson and Mary Jane Kellogg because we wanted to meet others with dystonia and learn more about how to deal with this neurological movement disorder. We are a support group of the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation, and the National Spasmodic Torticollis Association, which have websites where you can find a great deal of helpful information about dystonia. One good article is Common Misunderstandings about Dystonia.

In the past we have held monthly meetings which combine educational topics and discussion. Denise has now retired, so meetings are few and far between. Please browse this website for more information and join us for any future meeting.

The Spokane medical community has been extraordinarily helpful in bringing our educational meetings to life, and we thank them.
